Meeting Our Whispering Oaks Neighbors

Last night, we had a wonderful time meeting voters in the Whispering Oaks neighborhood. Like many of our neighbors, the folks we talked with last night were primarily concerned with relieving traffic congestion and promoting smarter growth on the north side of San Antonio.

Whispering Oaks is near the western border of District 9, not far from the intersection of Interstate 10 and Wurzbach Parkway. Here's a map for reference:

Many of the folks who live in Whispering Oaks and the surrounding neighborhoods often encounter traffic at the intersection of Wurzbach Parkway and Northwest Military Highway.

Earlier this year, Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization approved $30 million in funding to construct a tunnel at this intersection, which is expected to significantly improve traffic flow on Wurzbach Parkway. The 2017 Bond also allocates municipal funding for this project - one of the many reasons to vote FOR Proposition 1: Streets, Bridges and Sidewalks Improvements.

Other bond projects that will benefit residents in this area are the drainage system improvements coming to Auldine Drive and Burr Oak Drive as well as low-water crossings on Vance Jackson Road. These projects fall under Proposition 2: Drainage and Flood Control Improvements.

If any of our neighbors have further questions about upcoming projects and improvements in District 9 - or throughout the city - please don't hesitate to reach out! Feel free to leave a comment below or connect with us on Facebook and Twitter.

We will also offer several more opportunities for you to talk with John in person. On Saturday, April 8th, we'll be at Mildfire Coffee Roasters from 8am to 10am. Check out our calendar for more upcoming events.
