Protect the Plaza
Tomorrow City Council will vote on the lease agreement with the General Land Office for Alamo Plaza. My vote on the lease agreement will be a "No" unless we are able to fix a few things:
- The proposed lease agreement calls for a fixed number of entries into Alamo Plaza. This space should remain forever free and fully open to the public.
- The proposed lease agreement acknowledges the relocation of the Cenotaph. This monument should be restored where it stands.
- The proposed lease agreement would allow for the General Land Office to purchase Alamo Plaza after 50 years. The City of San Antonio should preserve and maintain the grounds surrounding one of the most reverent sites in the state of Texas. Our shrine is not for sale!
Thank you for supporting our efforts!
